Before And After

Extraction 1

Crowded arches occurs when the amount of tooth material trying to squeeze into the available amount of bone is too excessive.  The options available are to either create more bone and archwidth to accomodate the teeth through expansion(non-extraction), or to simply make less tooth material present(extraction).  The option chosen will depend on several issues, including amount of crowding, angulation of the teeth, profile esthetics, etc.   This is an example of an extraction treatment, because the amount of crowding was too great, and the bone would have been excessively thinned out had an attempt been made to treat non-extraction.
